There is always a lovely sense of anticipation at the beginning of a new Italy wedding season. Not unlike our soon-to-be brides and grooms, those of us who work in wedding-world are excited by all of the wonderful discoveries and experiences the new season will bring.

Trend-Setting Twosomes

Trend-Setting Twosomes

More and more couples are setting their own trends, creating their own traditions and adding their own personal touches to the elements and events of their big day and a world already full of beautiful, inventive ideas is ever-increasing and evolving.

If you are busy planning and preparing for your Italy wedding day, no doubt you will exploring or even finalising your own amazing ideas and options while those of your who are recently engaged or proposal-planning have so much fun to look forward to.

And so, as we take our first steps into the 2019 wedding season, what are the predicted 2019 wedding trends?

Striking Shades

Wedding colours choices are becoming a little moodier, darker and, dare I say, edgier, with the introduction of bolder and more dramatic palettes and tones to add a striking accent to all wedding aspects from tableware and stationery to floral arrangements and bridal wear.

Shades such as midnight, wine, emerald, charcoal and onyx will be adorning all elements of a wedding as will metallics. And those who dare, need not afraid to clash by mixing non-traditionally suited colours to wonderful effect!

Flamboyant Florals

Elaborate floral arrangements, as favoured by Prince William and Meghan Markle at their 2018 wedding, are a 2019 wedding trend, with couples tending towards dramatic designs and larger and more elaborate floral installations rather than decorations!

Flowers are being used in increasingly creative ways throughout a wedding, suspended from ceilings and chandeliers, as part of the furniture and covering, cascading and bursting from every possible surface and situation.

Floral elements are also becoming decidedly less-traditional with the introduction of more alternative options such as plants, fruit, wheat and grasses. And, for not only fabulous effect but also amazing sustainability, dried flowers are becoming increasing popular especially for more Bohemian-inspired brides and grooms.

Iconic Wedding Cakes

Wedding cakes have, in recent years, taken a much simpler turn with the trend towards nude cakes or an array of desserts rather than one main cake.

However THE wedding cake – that iconic wedding element – is back and out to make a big, bold, colourful and elaborate statement, with hand-painted cakes a particularly popular choice!

Getting Personal

Personalisation is the key to upcoming weddings, with couples replacing more traditional name cards and place settings with hand –written notes and inventive, customised elements and illustrations.

In fact calligraphers, illustrators and caricaturists are become a very popular wedding choices, with couples offering their guests the opportunity for personalised wedding art entertainment.

Velvet Luxury

Velvet, traditionally a more winter wedding choice is set to become an all-year trend this year.

And while more elaborate velvet items may not be practical wedding attire choice for the Italian summer, lovely velvet accents such as ribbons, shoes or table runners will add an element of sumptuous luxury to your event.

Bringing the Indoors Out and the Outdoors In

Bringing the indoors out of doors is another key 2019 trend with couples choosing to decorate outdoor venue areas with traditionally indoor furniture such as sofas, coffee tables, lamps and rugs to create cosy relax corners or a completely unique aperitif area and dining tables and chairs to add a sumptuous dining room feel to al-fresco dining.

And the outdoors are moving indoors, with trees, plants, floral installations and suspended starry skies all being used to create an outdoor, garden ambience to an indoor event.
